To encourage students to read interesting and different books, while having fun competing with and against their peers.

Timeline
November
Students are introduced to the battle. Books are made available in classrooms and at the library. Students are assigned to their teams. Teams will have the opportunity to meet and assign at least one book per team member. All students are provided with a graphic organizer and a notebook.
November to April
Teams continue to read, review, and strategize in preparation for the battle.
April
Homeroom battles take place after April vacation.
May (after MCAS)
Battle of the Books showdown for 4th and 5th grade and the final battle.

NO, you will only have to read the books that you and your team assign to you.
How many books will I have to read?
